　　1. 時(shí)態(tài)題：By the middle of the century， both radio and television had become established means of transmitting sounds and/or pictures. By the time of +現(xiàn)在時(shí)間狀語(yǔ)，用一般現(xiàn)在時(shí)；by the time of +將來(lái)時(shí)間狀語(yǔ)，用將來(lái)完成時(shí)；by the time of +過(guò)去時(shí)間狀語(yǔ)，用過(guò)去完成時(shí)。
　　2. Printed materials 印刷材料；isolated areas 荒蕪的地區(qū)
　　3. Entertain（v.娛樂(lè)）-entertained（adj. 娛樂(lè)的）-entertainment（n. 娛樂(lè)）
　　4. In 1975，many people in India saw television for the first time as they watched programs about agriculture and health. （因?yàn)椋?br />　　5. Common的最高級(jí)the most common
　　6. 難句：Telecommunication can make information from around the world available to use quickly and easily， but…
　　make sth. available sth. 是賓語(yǔ)；available 這個(gè)adj.是sth. 的賓語(yǔ)補(bǔ)足語(yǔ)
　　電信可以使全世界的信息使用起來(lái)又便捷又容易。
　　7. Contact為不可數(shù)名詞，可以用much來(lái)修飾，表示許多聯(lián)系。
　　8. 翻譯：It is important to realize that the same technology that helps us may also harm us.
　　意識(shí)到一項(xiàng)科技既能幫助我們又會(huì)傷害到我們，這很重要。
　　Text B　What people Don't Know about Air
　　搭配：
　　1. Be important to sb. 對(duì)某人來(lái)說(shuō)很重要/形容詞詞組
　　2. In order to do sth. 為了做某事/表示目的的動(dòng)詞不定式短語(yǔ)
　　3. As we know it 正如我們所知道的那樣/狀語(yǔ)
　　4. Be forced to do sth. 被迫做某事，不得不做某事/動(dòng)詞詞組
　　5. Seek shelter from 遠(yuǎn)離，躲避/動(dòng)詞詞組
　　6. Protect sb. from sth./doing sth. 保護(hù)某人不受/動(dòng)詞詞組
　　7. Rest upon 依賴，落在什么上/動(dòng)詞詞組
　　8. Gaze at sth./sb. 盯著某人或某物看/動(dòng)詞詞組
　　9. In wonder 驚訝地/副詞詞組
　　10. In the meantime 與此同時(shí)/副詞短語(yǔ)
　　11. Pay attention to sth./doing sth. 注意某事/動(dòng)詞詞組

　　語(yǔ)言點(diǎn)：
　　1. 虛擬語(yǔ)氣：
　　a. Without air，we could not exist.
　　b. Without air，there would be no fire.
　　c. Without air，there would be no wind or clouds.
　　結(jié)論：介詞without+名詞或代詞，主語(yǔ)+could/would +動(dòng)詞原型。表示對(duì)現(xiàn)在進(jìn)行虛擬。
　　d. If we did not have air，there would be no sound.
　　e. If we did not have atmospheric pressure， we could not have automobile tires.
　　f. The tires would burst if they did not have the pressure of the atmosphere against their surfaces.
　　結(jié)論：從句用動(dòng)詞的過(guò)去式，主句用could/would+動(dòng)詞原型。表示對(duì)現(xiàn)在進(jìn)行虛擬。
　　2. 時(shí)態(tài)題：Sound travels through air. 用現(xiàn)在時(shí)的原因表客觀事實(shí)。
　　3. 翻譯：Where there is no air，there is no sound. 沒(méi)有空氣的地方就沒(méi)有聲音。
　　4. Deadly（adj.）致命的，e.g. deadly rays 致命的射線
　　5. But our bodies are built in such a way that this weight does not crush us.
　　6. 翻譯：Electrical energy is collected in the atmosphere as water is collected and stored in a dam. 電能被儲(chǔ)藏在大氣層里就宛若水被匯集并儲(chǔ)藏在大壩里一樣。
　　7. But a thorough study of electricity in the atmosphere was not possible until the development of radio and radar. Not…until…直到什么時(shí)候…才
