Put one's foot in one's mouth說(shuō)錯(cuò)話(huà)
He put his foot in it( in his mouth) when he declared that the proposal was ridiculous. The proposal was made by the boss himself.
Half the lies our opponents tell about me are not true。 ┊(dāng)時(shí)人們笑他失言,就說(shuō):He has put his foot in his mouth again。 原來(lái)這成語(yǔ)是另一個(gè)成語(yǔ)put one's foot in it衍生的。Put one's foot in it本來(lái)是指一不小心一腳踩在污水或者比污水更加厲害的東西上面;后來(lái),一不小心做了些不該做的事、說(shuō)了些不該說(shuō)的話(huà),也叫做put one's foot in it了。
