英語(yǔ)中的否定形式表示肯定意義

       英語(yǔ)中有些句子形式上是否定的，但是內(nèi)容含義上卻是肯定的。
　　一、cannot wait 后跟不定式， 意為“急于做”，表示強(qiáng)調(diào)的肯定
　　I couldn’t wait to see her. 我渴望見(jiàn)到她。
　　I cannot wait to read the book. 我非�？释x到這本書。
　　二、cannot/couldn’t＋too意為 “越……越……　，非常，無(wú)論怎樣……也不過(guò)分” 在此結(jié)構(gòu)中，cannot 也可改用can hardly，scarcely，never，impossible；too也可改用over，enough等。
　　A man can never have too many friends. 朋友越多越好。
　　He cannot see you quickly enough. 他想很快見(jiàn)到你。
　　三、not… until/ till 意為 “直到……的時(shí)候才”
　　People take no thought of the value of time until they lose it.人們失去時(shí)間后才知道時(shí)間的價(jià)值　　
　　It was not until the next day that I knew that truth. 直到第二天我才知道真相。
　　He did not go to bed until his mother came back. 直到他母親回來(lái)他才睡覺(jué)。
　　四、否定詞＋but
　　1、not(no)…but
　　There is no man but has his faults. 人皆有過(guò)。
　　No one believes but she will succeed. 人們相信他會(huì)成功。
　　There is no one but knows him. 人人都認(rèn)識(shí)他。
　　2、never (not)…but (that) 意為 “每當(dāng)……, 總是……, 沒(méi)有哪次不是……”。
　　I never see you but I think of my mother. 每當(dāng)看見(jiàn)你時(shí),我總是想起我的母親�！�
　　He will not be angry but that he is offended. 人們?nèi)橇怂艜?huì)生氣。
　　3、nothing but /none but 意為 “僅僅,只,只有……才”。
　　We can see nothing but water. 我們只能看見(jiàn)水。
　　None but me knew what happened. 只有我知道發(fā)生了什么事情。
　　He chose none but the best. 他只選最好的。
　　五、not long before 意為“不久……就……”
　　It was not long before he appeared. 他不久就出現(xiàn)了。　　
　　六、否定詞＋without 意為 “ 每 …… 必”　　
　　What appeared to me wonderful was that none of the ants came home without bringing something. 使我感到驚奇的是每只螞蟻回來(lái)都帶回一些東西。
　　There is no smoke without fire. 有煙必有火。
　　七、no (none) other than意為 “僅僅,完全”　　
　　She is none other than my teacher. 她正是我的老師。
　　The letter was written by none other than Mary. 寫這封信的正是瑪莉。
　　八、too + 形容詞 / 副詞 + not ＋ 不定式 “非�！囟�，太……不會(huì)不”
　　1. 本句型是對(duì)too … to 的否定，表示肯定意思。
　　His speech was too good not to stir the audience. 他的演講太好了，不會(huì)不使觀眾轟動(dòng)�！　�
　　He is too foolish not to say it. 他那么傻，不會(huì)不把這事說(shuō)出來(lái)。
　　2. 若 把否定詞放到前面not too … to 表示這并不太……所以能。
　　He is not too old to do it. 他做這件事，年齡并不老。
　　3. never too … to (永不/決不……)。
　　It is never too late to give up prejudices. 放棄偏見(jiàn)永遠(yuǎn)不晚。
　　九、more often than not意為 “常常,往往”
　　John is a good swimmer. He wins more often than not.
　　約翰是個(gè)游泳健將,他常常在比賽中獲獎(jiǎng)。　　
　　The street is crowded more often than not. 這條大街常常很擁擠。
　　十、否定詞＋比較級(jí)( 相當(dāng)于最高級(jí))
　　I couldn’t agree more. 我非常同意。
　　Nothing is more valuable than health. 健康是最寶貴的。　
　　十一、not a little意為 “很,很多”
　　He is not a little tired. 他非常累。
　　He has not a little experience. 他有著豐富的經(jīng)驗(yàn)。
　　十二、某些不用回答和表達(dá)說(shuō)話人感情的疑問(wèn)句
　　1. 否定修辭性疑問(wèn)句表示非常強(qiáng)烈的肯定。
　　Who does not know? (=Everybody knows.) 誰(shuí)不知道?(意思是“人人知道”)　
　　2. 否定感嘆疑問(wèn)句表示的肯定。
　　Isn’t that beautiful! 多么美麗呀!
　　Isn’t she a sweet girl! 她多么可愛(ài)啊!
　　注：這種疑問(wèn)句用來(lái)回答別人的問(wèn)題或?qū)e人的談話做出反應(yīng),以強(qiáng)調(diào)自己和對(duì)方的意見(jiàn)一致。
　　---Lovely day, isn’t it? 天氣真好啊,是不是?
　　---Yes, isn’t it! 是啊,真好!
　　3. 祈使疑問(wèn)句。
　　Won’t you have some beer? 請(qǐng)喝點(diǎn)啤酒吧！
　　Won’t you sit down! 請(qǐng)坐呀!
　　十三、否定的習(xí)慣用語(yǔ)表示的肯定
　　有些習(xí)慣用法,雖然形式上是否定的,但意義卻是肯定的。
　　He’ll be at home now, as likely as not.(=He’ll probably be at home now.)
　　他很可能現(xiàn)在在家。
