    Text A There is Something Very Nice inside Your Drum

    It was Jimmy's birthday ， and he was five years old. He got quite
a lot of nice birthday presents from his family ， and one of them was
a beautiful big drum. Jimmy 的生日到了，他已經(jīng)五歲了。他從家人那里得到
了很多很好的生日禮物，其中一個(gè)是一個(gè)很大很漂亮的鼓。

    "Who gave him that thing？ "Jimmy's father said when he saw it.
“誰(shuí)送他那個(gè)鼓的？”Jimmy ‘的爸爸看到鼓的時(shí)候問(wèn)。

    "His grandfather did，"answered Jimmy's mother.

    "Oh ，" said his father.“他祖父送的，”Jimmy ‘的媽媽說(shuō)。

    “哦，”他爸爸說(shuō)。

    Of course ， Jimmy liked his drum very much. He made a terrible noise
with it ， but his mother did not mind. His father was working during
the day ， and Jimmy was in bed when he got home in the evening ， so
he did not hear the noise.當(dāng)然，Jimmy 非常喜歡他的鼓。他用他制造了很大
的噪聲，但他媽媽不介意。他爸爸白天在工作，而當(dāng)他晚上回家時(shí)Jimmy 已經(jīng)躺
在床上睡覺(jué)了，所以他不會(huì)聽(tīng)到噪聲。

    But one of the neighbours did not like the noise at all ， so one
morning a few days later， she took a sharp knife and went to Jimmy's
house while he was hitting his drum. She said to him， "Hello ， Jimmy.
Do you know ， there's something very nice inside your drum. Here's a
knife. Open the drum and let's find it."但他們的一位鄰居一點(diǎn)也不喜歡那
種噪音，所以幾天后的一個(gè)早上，她帶著一把鋒利的刀去Jimmy 家，那時(shí)Jimmy
正在打鼓。她跟他說(shuō)，“Hello ，Jimmy.你知道嗎，有件很棒的東西在你的鼓里。
給你刀，把這個(gè)鼓打開(kāi)，讓我們找到他。”

    如果你是Jimmy ，你會(huì)聽(tīng)這位鄰居的話打開(kāi)心愛(ài)的鼓嗎？我是說(shuō)在你五歲的
時(shí)候哦。

    Text B May I See a Hat， please ？

    MR Ross ： May I see a hat， please ？

    MR Ross ：請(qǐng)問(wèn)，我能找頂帽子嗎？

    SALESMAN： What size do you take？

    SALESMAN：你戴多大號(hào)的？

    MR Ross ： I'm sorry. I don't know. MR Ross ：對(duì)不起，我不知道。

    SALESMAN： I'll measure you. . . You take size 6. What color hat would
you like？

    SALESMAN：我?guī)湍懔恳幌?hellip;…你是6 號(hào)的。你喜歡什么顏色的帽子呢？

    MR Ross ： Brown， please. MR Ross：請(qǐng)找頂棕色的吧。

    SALESMAN： Here are some nice brown hats. Try this hat on. It's a
very good one. SALESMAN ：這里有些漂亮的棕色帽子。試試那頂吧。

    MR Ross ： Yes， I like this one. It goes very well with my coat.
How much is it？

    MR Ross ：嗯，我喜歡這頂。它很搭我的外套。這帽子多少錢？

    SALESMAN： It's $ 9.95（nine dollars and ninety-five cents）。 Do
you want me to put it in a box？

    SALESMAN：9.95美元。要不要我把它放進(jìn)盒子里？

    Read the following passage once. Underline the key words while reading
and retell the story to your partner.

    The police in the big city were looking for a thief. At last they
caught him. But while they were taking photographs of him - from the front，
from the left ， from the right ， with a hat ， without a hat - he suddenly
attacked the policemen and ran off. They tried to catch him ， but he
got away. Then a week later the telephone rang in the police-station，
and somebody said ，“You are looking for Bill Cross， aren't you ？”

    “Yes.”

    “Well， he left here for Water bridge an hour ago. ”

    Water Bridge was a small town about 100 miles from the city. The city
police at once sent four different photographs of the thief to the police
in Water Bridge. Less than twelve hours later they got a telephone call
from the police in Water Bridge.“We have caught the fours this evening，
we think. ”

    常用口語(yǔ)：

    1. May I see a hat， please ？當(dāng)你走進(jìn)一家商店想買帽子、衣服、鞋子
等寶貝時(shí)，你可以說(shuō)：“May I see …… please ？" 這樣，服務(wù)員就會(huì)給你介
紹相關(guān)產(chǎn)品了。

    2. It goes very well with my coat.看到那么多美麗的物品，想必總有讓
你心儀的寶貝了吧，覺(jué)得它很相稱，那時(shí)候就可以說(shuō)：“It goes very well with
……”

    雖然學(xué)了這么兩個(gè)句子要去商店自如表達(dá)還不夠，不過(guò)積少成多嘛，心急的
筒子也可以另外再找資料學(xué)習(xí)學(xué)習(xí)，說(shuō)不定馬上就能變身購(gòu)物達(dá)人咯，呵呵。
