The Dutch national health authority has confirmed that a 17-year-old male has become the first person in the Netherlands to die from A/H1N1 flu, Radio Netherlands reported on Tuesday. The man was already seriously sick when he contracted the virus. He died in the early hours of Tuesday, but no further details are being released for privacy concerns of his family. Since April, the A/H1N1 flu virus has been confirmed in 663 people in the Netherlands, 512 of whom were infected abroad. Nine people have had to be admitted to hospital with the disease, and a39-year-old man had to spend a lengthy time in intensive care. Most of the patients have now been discharged. |
