我們的母語(yǔ)是漢語(yǔ)，她積淀著深厚的優(yōu)秀傳統(tǒng)文化，是我們必須傾注心力呵護(hù)并學(xué)習(xí)的。黑利伯瑞為提高學(xué)生對(duì)民族語(yǔ)言重要性的認(rèn)識(shí)，并保護(hù)民族語(yǔ)言，2月25日早，黑利伯瑞以“國(guó)際母語(yǔ)日”為主題舉行升旗儀式。擔(dān)任今天升旗儀式的主持人是來(lái)自高中部10年級(jí)唐思越、趙亭煊兩位同學(xué)。由于天氣原因，升旗儀式通過(guò)校園廣播在室內(nèi)進(jìn)行。

　　漢語(yǔ)作為世界上歷史悠久的、文化積淀深厚的語(yǔ)言之一，隨著國(guó)際交流的日益頻繁，學(xué)習(xí)普通話的意義已不僅僅是溝通的需要，更是有利于人類(lèi)文明的傳承和發(fā)展。

　　國(guó)際母語(yǔ)日(International Mother Language Day)是1999年11月由聯(lián)合國(guó)教科文組織的一般性大會(huì)宣布：從2000年起，”國(guó)際母語(yǔ)日“設(shè)定在每年的2月21日，旨在促進(jìn)語(yǔ)言和文化的多樣性，以及多語(yǔ)種文化。

　　語(yǔ)言是保存和發(fā)展人類(lèi)有形和無(wú)形遺產(chǎn)的最有力的工具。各種促進(jìn)母語(yǔ)傳播的活動(dòng)，都不僅有助于語(yǔ)言的多樣化和多語(yǔ)種的教育，而且能夠提高對(duì)全世界各語(yǔ)言和文化傳統(tǒng)的認(rèn)知，以此在理解、包容和對(duì)話的基礎(chǔ)上，促成世界人民的團(tuán)結(jié)。

　　聯(lián)合國(guó)教科文組織設(shè)定”國(guó)際母語(yǔ)日“的目的是為了幫助人們了解世界各民族母語(yǔ)文化的現(xiàn)狀，推動(dòng)語(yǔ)言及文化的多元發(fā)展。在理解、寬容與對(duì)話的基礎(chǔ)上，幫助人們進(jìn)一步加深對(duì)語(yǔ)言傳統(tǒng)及文化傳統(tǒng)的認(rèn)識(shí)。

　　尊敬的老師，親愛(ài)的同學(xué)們，大家早上好!

　　我是來(lái)自10年級(jí)A班的李镕希，今天我要介紹的升旗手是10年級(jí)的顧子軒，他是一個(gè)活潑開(kāi)朗、熱愛(ài)學(xué)習(xí)的男孩，課堂上，他積極發(fā)言，專(zhuān)心聽(tīng)講;課后積極認(rèn)真地完成作業(yè)，學(xué)習(xí)成績(jī)優(yōu)異。他的愛(ài)好廣泛，熱愛(ài)體育運(yùn)動(dòng)，酷愛(ài)籃球。他也有自己的目標(biāo)和夢(mèng)想，并在不斷追夢(mèng)，不斷進(jìn)步的路上。

　　Dear leaders teachers and all the students, good morning! I am Leah from year10A, today I will introduce the flag raiser called Gary. He is a lively and cheerful boy who loves to learn. In class, he actively speaks and concentrates on listening. After class, he can finish his homework on time and earnestly. He has a wide range of hobbies, he various sports, especially basketball. There are many goals in his heart, he said as long as he has a positive heart, hard work, one day he will reach the peak of success.

　　語(yǔ)言是推動(dòng)可持續(xù)發(fā)展和協(xié)調(diào)總體與局部之間關(guān)系的關(guān)鍵因素。開(kāi)展“國(guó)際母語(yǔ)日”活動(dòng)，有利于語(yǔ)言對(duì)促進(jìn)群體和個(gè)體的自我認(rèn)同，并推動(dòng)他們之間的和平共處。語(yǔ)言的重要意義在于它可以促進(jìn)文化多樣性，語(yǔ)言對(duì)推動(dòng)社會(huì)融入、創(chuàng)新、經(jīng)濟(jì)發(fā)展，以及保護(hù)本土知識(shí)同樣意義重大。

　　面對(duì)全球化進(jìn)程加速所帶來(lái)的機(jī)遇和挑戰(zhàn)，中國(guó)已充分認(rèn)識(shí)到維護(hù)文化多樣性對(duì)世界和平與發(fā)展的重要意義，促進(jìn)多元文化的發(fā)展也有利于中國(guó)建設(shè)和諧社會(huì)目標(biāo)的實(shí)現(xiàn)。

　　Good morning everyone. I have been asked to speak to you today about International Mother Language Day and to do that I will be speaking in my mother language which is English.

　　大家早上好。根據(jù)今天的主題，以下我將用我的母語(yǔ)——英語(yǔ)，進(jìn)行演講。

　　There are 195 countries in the world, yet the world has more than 7000 languages and this number continues to change.

　　世界上有195個(gè)國(guó)家，目前為止共有超過(guò)7000種語(yǔ)言，并且這個(gè)數(shù)目一直在變。

　　In doing some research I found that Papua New Guinea has the most languages in a single country.

　　在做一些研究時(shí)，我發(fā)現(xiàn)巴布亞新幾內(nèi)亞在是一個(gè)擁有最多語(yǔ)言的國(guó)家。

　　This country is 17 times smaller than Australia, 21 times smaller than China so I was amazed to discover that this tiny country has almost 850 different languages.

　　這個(gè)國(guó)家比澳大利亞小17倍，比中國(guó)小21倍，所以當(dāng)我發(fā)現(xiàn)這個(gè)小國(guó)家有近850種語(yǔ)言時(shí)我非常得驚訝。

　　Countries may have an official language, for instance the official language of China is Standard Chinese (Mandarin), but then different groups within each country may speak different variations.

　　國(guó)家可能會(huì)有一種官方語(yǔ)言，例如中國(guó)的官方語(yǔ)言是普通話，但每個(gè)國(guó)家的不同群體可能會(huì)用不同的方言。

　　India doesn’t just have one official language, it has 22 officially recognised languages and many more variations.

　　This is part of the richness of each countries culture. My father was born in Italy, yet he doesn’t speak the official language of Italy, he speaks a dialect which is unique to the area he was born in.

　　Even now languages continue to evolve and change the way we communicate with each other, and new languages continue to be discovered.

　　Just last year a new language, ‘Jedek’ was discovered in Malaysia in a small community of about 300 people.

　　就在去年，一種新的語(yǔ)言“Jedek”在馬來(lái)西亞的一個(gè)大約300人的小社區(qū)中被發(fā)現(xiàn)。

　　In 2013 in Australia a new language was found that about 350 people speak in a small town in the Northern Territory and the people who speak this language are all under the age of 40.

　　2013年，澳大利亞發(fā)現(xiàn)了一種新的語(yǔ)言，大約有350人在北領(lǐng)地的一個(gè)小鎮(zhèn)上使用這種語(yǔ)言，并且講這種語(yǔ)言的人都在40歲以下。

　　And of course, there is social media which has its own form of language that allows people to communicate across language barriers and on a global scale sometimes by just using a smiley face.

　　I love to travel and have done so extensively. I meet people from all over the world who are bilingual or multilingual and I am envious of them as I can only speak English.

　　I think you should all be very proud that you have chosen to learn a second language and for some of you English might even be a third language.

　　我認(rèn)為你們都應(yīng)該為自己選擇學(xué)習(xí)第二語(yǔ)言而感到驕傲，對(duì)你們中的一些人來(lái)說(shuō)，英語(yǔ)甚至可能是第三語(yǔ)言。

　　International Mother Language Day is about celebrating the diversity of language and culture and reminds us how words connect us, empower us and help us communicate our feelings to others. Through language we can learn about the history and culture of others and therefore their identity.

　　“國(guó)際母語(yǔ)日”是為了慶祝語(yǔ)言和文化的多樣性，提醒我們語(yǔ)言是如何連接我們、賦予我們力量和幫助我們與他人交流我們的感情的。通過(guò)語(yǔ)言，我們可以了解他人的歷史和文化，從而了解他們的身份。

　　I challenge everyone to try their best from this week to converse more than usual in English. Your mother language remains an important part of yourself but knowing another language also creates opportunity. It gives you better insight into another culture, it helps you connect with others, it opens up further career opportunities and it feeds your brain.

　　我要求每個(gè)人從本周起盡最大努力用英語(yǔ)交談。你的母語(yǔ)仍然是你自己的重要組成部分，但了解另一種語(yǔ)言也會(huì)創(chuàng)造機(jī)會(huì)，讓你更好地了解另一種文化，幫助你與他人建立聯(lián)系，為你提供更多的就業(yè)機(jī)會(huì)，并為你的大腦提供能量。
