　　Rich economies are also less dependent on oil than they were, and so less sensitive to swings in the oil price. Energy conservation, a shift to other fuels and a decline in the importance of heavy, energy-intensive industries have reduced oil consumption. On the other hand, oil-importing emerging economies — to which heavy industry has shifted — have become more energy-intensive, and so could be more seriously squeezed.

　　這里出現了并列，并列就是會引起省略;切分還原為兩個完整的句子：

　　參考譯文：發(fā)達國家和過去相比對于石油的依靠減少了，對于石油價格的波動也沒有那么敏感了。

　　第二句：

　　Energy conservation, a shift to other fuels and a decline in the importance of heavy, energy-intensive industries have reduced oil consumption.

　　主干識別： A， B and C have reduced oil consumption.

　　A = Energy conservation

　　B = a shift to other fuels

　　C= a decline in the importance of heavy, energy-intensive industries

　　參考譯文： 節(jié)約能源，使用替換能源，能源密集型的重工業(yè)重要性下降;這些都減少了石油消費。

　　第三句：

　　On the other hand, oil-importing emerging economies — to which heavy industry has shifted — have become more energy-intensive, and so could be more seriously squeezed.

　　首先：On the other hand,后面的內容和前面的內容通常是構成轉折的。

　　主干識別： oil-importing emerging economies have become more energy-intensive, and so could be more seriously squeezed.(馬德，這個作者有多喜歡并列啊。)

　　切分成分： — to which heavy industry has shifted —

　　定語從句充當插入語，我再說一遍，插入語不是一種獨立的語法成分，是由其他成分來充當的!這里就是定語從句充當插入語!別來問我同位語和插入語有什么區(qū)別!有的時候是同位語充當插入語，只要是放在— 和—之間，以及，和，之間的就是插入語。

　　(重工業(yè)已經轉移到了需要石油進口的新興經濟體;)

　　參考譯文：另一方面，重工業(yè)已經轉移到了需要石油進口的新興經濟體，所以這些國家變得更加能源密集，進而可能會受到更嚴重的壓榨。
