| Should the goal of college education be to ensure that the students find a good job or should it aim at cultivating the students’ overall abilities? 大學(xué)教育的目的究竟應(yīng)該是怎樣的呢？毫無(wú)疑問，人們肯定會(huì)有不同的看法，甚至各個(gè)大學(xué)之間也會(huì)觀點(diǎn)相左。我個(gè)人傾向于培養(yǎng)學(xué)生的綜合能力。 What should be the purpose of college education? No doubt, different people, or even different universities, may see it quite differently. As to me, I tend to support the view that it should aim at cultivating the students’ overall abilities. 首先，只有全面發(fā)展的學(xué)生才是從長(zhǎng)遠(yuǎn)角度講社會(huì)發(fā)展所真正需要的人才。我們可以問問自己：社會(huì)發(fā)展需要什么樣的大學(xué)畢業(yè)生呢？簡(jiǎn)單想想就會(huì)得到答案：有良好的專業(yè)知識(shí)、有健康的體魄、有健康的心態(tài)、有較好的溝通能力、有團(tuán)隊(duì)精神、有創(chuàng)新能力或執(zhí)行能力。當(dāng)然，如果一個(gè)人能夠更加多才多藝，那不但對(duì)其本人的生活，而且對(duì)于一個(gè)團(tuán)隊(duì)生活的多彩性都會(huì)有很大幫助的。這一切的一切歸納起來(lái)是什么呢？答案很明了：綜合能力。 First of all, social progress needs overall-developed college graduates in the long run. When we ask ourselves the question: “What kind of college graduates does the society need?” the answer is just too obvious: ones with a good command of the knowledge in their own fields of study, ones with a healthy body, ones with a healthy mentality, ones with good communication skills, ones with team-work spirit, ones with creative, innovative ability or the ability for implementation. What are all these things are? Again, the answer is just simple: overall abilities. 其次，全面發(fā)展的學(xué)生必然更容易找到好工作。隨便問一個(gè)企業(yè)的雇主：你希望雇傭什么樣的員工？如果這個(gè)問題有些不明確，那就把問題更具體化一些：請(qǐng)您選擇：A:一個(gè)全面發(fā)展的大學(xué)畢業(yè)生；B:一個(gè)不是全面發(fā)展的大學(xué)畢業(yè)生。在其它條件都相同的情況下，我們有充足的理由深信這位雇主肯定會(huì)選擇A的。 Second, an overall developed graduate would find a job more easily. You can ask around an employer of a certain enterprise: What type of employees do you wish to employ? If this question is a little unclear, we can make it more specific by letting him make a choice: A. an overall developed college graduate; B. a none-overall developed college graduate. Supposing everything other things remain equal, we have sound reasons to believe that he will definitely select A. 誠(chéng)然，大學(xué)關(guān)心自己畢業(yè)生的工作問題是值得稱頌的，因?yàn)槿魏稳硕际紫刃枰\生，然后才能談進(jìn)一步的發(fā)展。有一份自己喜歡的、收入好、工作前景好的工作也是大學(xué)畢業(yè)生們所期盼的。但是，誰(shuí)也不能否認(rèn)，培養(yǎng)全面發(fā)展的學(xué)生與好工作之間永遠(yuǎn)都是密切相關(guān)的，絕對(duì)不是相沖突、相矛盾的。 Admittedly, it is praiseworthy of universities to be concerned about their graduates’ job-hunting issues, for after all, anyone should first solve the problem of making a living before talking about later on development. Besides, it is also the shared aspiration of all college graduates to have a well-paid job that they like and that points to a good prospect in the future. However, no one would ever deny the fact that to cultivate the overall abilities of the students is always closely related to and in no way conflicts or contradicts good job opportunities. 基于以上論證，我們可以清楚地認(rèn)識(shí)到：大學(xué)教育的目的應(yīng)該永遠(yuǎn)是以培養(yǎng)學(xué)生較強(qiáng)的綜合能力為目標(biāo)的。 From the foregoing discussion, we can come to the conclusion that the purpose of college education should always target at cultivating the overall abilities of the students. |
